Sonsub, Saipem’s center of excellence headquartered in Marghera (Venice), business line specialized for Life of Field, Underwater Technology, Subsea Processing, and subsea technology innovation associated with subsea robotics. Underwater Drone Services are changing the industry in much the same way that aerial drone services have in the last decade.

The Hydrone program, entirely executed by the Sonsub center, encompasses three vehicles, namely Hydrone-R, Hydrone-S and  Hydrone-W. A strategic move aimed at changing the paradigm of underwater inspections and interventions via a fleet of next-generation drones and advanced ancillary equipment.

SONSUB together with ROCG (Petronas Licensed Vendor) are actively pursuing opportunities in Malaysia.

Common core technologies are shared among the three vehicles, named Hydrone-S (Flat Fish), Hydrone-R and Hydrone-W. The logic of standardization and interchangeability is pursued in order to deliver a unique platform for the subsea applications where the qualification program is capitalized for maximum reliability and robustness. 

Hydrone-S is the perfect solution for inspection tasks; Hydrone-R is the most versatile configuration when survey and inspection activities must be carried out in combination with light intervention works. For heavy duty applications where manipulation and handling are the drivers, Hydrone-W is the ideal match.
